Important 1.5.6/2.0.5 Patching & StarForce

Dear Customers,

At the end of this week (on Friday, April 7th) all three available DCS versions will be updated.  Among other things, these updates contain the MiG-21Bis StarForce patch.

We recommend some minimal actions on your side to prepare for the patch.

Please check which of following procedures describes your DCS installation:

  1. You have only one DCS version.
  2. You have two DCS versions.
  3. You have three DCS versions.
  4. Read this if you missed this notice or you are unable to take actions before the patch is released.
  5. Download LNS_DCS_MiG-21Bis_Registry_Delete.rar

Note that once again, we provided two additional activations per key, for all users.

1. You have only one DCS version

If you happen to have DCS openBeta (v. 1.5.6.3690 or higher) and you previously applied the MiG-21Bis MARCH patch, and are using MiG-21Bis only in open Beta, you don’t need to do anything.

In other cases, do the following:

  • Please deactivate the MiG-21Bis module DRM (DCS -> Login -> Module manager -> Installed modules -> MiG-21 -> click on DRM icon, follow procedure),
  • If you are unable to deactivate DRM, ignore it and proceed,
  • To allow the patch to be applied, please make sure the MiG-21Bis module is checked in DCS Module manager,
  • Please clean the registry using the provided “Mig-21_delete_activation_data.reg” file (double click, confirm),
  • Don’t activate the MiG-21Bis module before you update DCS. Once the update is applied, start DCS and activate the MiG-21Bis module.

2. You have two DCS versions

If you happen to have DCS openBeta (v1.5.6.3690 or higher) along with any other DCS version, and you previously applied the MiG-21Bis MARCH patch for openBeta, and are using the MiG-21Bis in openBeta, make sure the MiG-21Bis module is checked in DCS Module manager in the other version. The patch will enable the MiG-21Bis in both DCSs that you have.

In other cases, do the following:

  • Please deactivate the MiG-21Bis module DRM (DCS -> Login -> Module manager -> Installed modules -> MiG-21Bis -> click on DRM icon, follow procedure),
  • If you are unable to deactivate DRM, ignore it and proceed,
  • To allow the patch to be applied, please make sure the MiG-21Bis module is checked in both DCS Module managers,
  • Please clean the registry using the provided “Mig-21_delete_activation_data.reg” file (double click, confirm),
  • Don’t activate the MiG-21Bis in any DCS version before you update both DCS versions you have. Once the update is applied, start any DCS version and activate the MiG-21Bis module.

3. You have three DCS versions

If you happen to have DCS (v1.5.6.3690 or higher) along with two other DCS versions, and you previously applied the MiG-21Bis MARCH patch for openBeta, and are using the MiG-21Bis in openBeta, make sure the MiG-21Bis module is checked in the DCS Module managers in the other versions. The patches will enable the MiG-21Bs in all DCS versions.

In other cases, do the following:

  • Please deactivate the MiG-21Bis module DRM (DCS -> Login -> Module manager -> Installed modules -> MiG-21Bis -> click on DRM icon, follow procedure),
  • If you are unable to deactivate DRM, ignore it and proceed,
  • To allow the patch to be applied, please make sure the MiG-21Bis module is checked in all versions of DCS Module managers,
  • Please clean the registry using the provided “Mig-21_delete_activation_data.reg” file (double click, confirm),
  • Don’t activate the MiG-21Bis in any DCS version before you update all DCS versions.

4. Missed noticed / Unable to action before release

  • Don’t allow the update to begin when you start DCS,
  • Please deactivate the MiG-21Bis module DRM (DCS -> Login -> Module manager -> Installed modules -> MiG-21Bis -> click on DRM icon, follow procedure),
  • If you are unable to deactivate DRM, ignore it and proceed,
  • To allow the patch to be applied, please make sure the MiG-21Bis module is checked in all versions of the DCS Module managers,
  • Please clean the registry using provided “Mig-21_delete_activation_data.reg” file (double click, confirm),
  • Force an update on all DCS versions you might have (Start -> Eagle Dynamics -> Update DCS XXX),
  • Activate MiG-21Bis in any DCS version.
